Tan Dun’s Wolf Totem remains a most performed doublebass concerto in Asia and beyond. It’s a pity that this piece has not been mentioned as there’s plenty of resource online.

Comment on On This Day 1 October: André Rieu Was Born by Rossana Donati https://interlude.hk/on-this-day-1-october-andre-rieu-was-born/#comment-926092 Sun, 11 Jan 2026 11:23:48 +0000 https://interlude.hk/?p=123396#comment-926092 To Mr. André Rieu,
it was just before Christmas 2025 that for the first time I followed a concert on YouTube. I didn’t even know about you (sorry Mr, Rieu but I have to say that because it is true).
Since then, every day and all day long I listen to your’s various concerts performed in various parts of the world. I love them and I admire you Mr. Rieu. even if they make me a little sad, not because of the type of music but They remind me of my father (who unfortunately I never knew) but I know from my mother that he was a Hungarian violinist. I forgot to say that I am Italian, born in Rome 03/08/1948. For many years I was angry with my mother for not telling me the truth until I was 20. As soon as I came of age I left my mother and went to the south of France and stayed there for 2 years. After that I went to London and stayed there for 8 years. I didn’t think a musician dad could pass on something to his children. That wasn’t the case with me, but once I got married I had a son.
When he was about 25, he came home one day and said, “Why didn’t you let me study music?” A music teacher told me that my son had perfect pitch. but by then it was too late for him to start studying a musical instrument. How can a parent recognize such a hereditary gift in a child?
Dear Mr. André Rieu, I would like so much to have a CD with your Concert the Johann Strauss Orchestra if it is possible. God Bless you for ever!
Yours Sincerely Rossana Donati
